Studio Re-Design

I'm super lucky to have a studio in my house. It's on the back of the house and one whole wall is windows, AND it's southern facing - which in our neck of the woods means afternoon sun. And lots of it. When we came to this house for the first time we didn't have our realtor with us, and so we were walking around the outside and trying to peek in windows. (It was empty. I promise!) I got to the back of the house, peered through the windows and yelled, "DIBS!" I knew this house was going to be perfect, and I got to have a studio space. A girl can't ask for much more then that.

Since we've been here the studio space has been set up, and while I was pregnant it turned into a  "dumping ground" for odds and ends. I've been working out of the living room and dining room for a while - with a son who is only seven months old and a girl who turns 13 in less then a week - other things have come first on the to-do list. All you Mamas out there know what I'm talking about. We tend to come last.

I'm so busy now with my fiber business that I need to restake my claim and not have fiber covering every surface in the "main" living areas. So, I'll take you on the journey with me. I'm going to blog about the process, the decisions for placement of things and I'll more then welcome suggestions. Let me show you the first "before" photo ...

Just kidding! I currently see the room as a big black hole. But seriously ... If I posted a "before" photo my father would be on my doorstep in half an hour. No joke. He's good like that - always wanting to fix things for his girl. My Mom would be right behind him, shaking her head and saying, "Oh Jude...."

I've been on Pinterest and have been working on a studio board and will make a list of things I need, things I want and things that would be cool to have in the studio. I'll share the whole process with you. Now, wish me luck as I empty the room. If you don't hear from me within three days ... call for help, I probably fell into the black hole.

OH! I forgot to show you the spun silk! I'm going to post it for sale on Instagram later this evening. It was so fun to spin. Took a LONG time ... but it was a blast. I really enjoy spinning new fibers. Here's the finished product.

Have a great evening ....
